We invite you to peruse these pages and to find out how TLMI can help you grow your own business and fine tune your management strategies and best practices.
In 2009, TLMI introduced its L.I.F.E. program to its converter and supplier members. L.I.F.E. (Label Initiative for the Environment) was developed by TLMI in order to assist the association’s members with finding cost effective ways to reduce their company’s environmental footprint. Peer mentors can even help you through the certification process.
As we informed membership over the summer, TLMI has partnered with the Graphic Communications Institute at Cal Poly State University in researching the impact that emerging technologies are having on the supply chain. The report, Emerging Technologies for Packaging Innovation, was developed jointly by Packaging World magazine and Cal Poly.
Each link of the supply chain was involved in the research methodology including printed packaging converters, brand owners, contract packagers and commercial printers. The technologies covered in the report include digital printing, augmented reality, near field communication, QR codes, 3D printing and printed electronics.
It is important that our members understand that the results of the Cal Poly research are aggregated and include all of the major printed packaging sectors: tag and label, flexible packaging, folding carton and corrugated. As brand owners and packaging buyers continue to drive SKU proliferation through the supply chain, printed packaging converters are responding by ensuring the technology on their production floors optimally meets the changing requirements of their customers and prospects.
As a reminder, TLMI will be publishing the association’s first Digital Label Study in February 2015, and the Cal Poly report sets the stage for what will be a research endeavor focusing specifically on the North American tag and label sector.
