Board of Directors
Dave McDowell (TLMI Chairman Elect), Chairman, McDowell Label & Screen Printing, Plano, TX,has served on the TLMI Board of Directors since 2004. He has been a member of TLMI since 1995 and is also a member of the FTA. Dave is a graduate of Texas A & M University and is active in Rotary and his church. His wife, Elaine, and sons, John and Jeff, are active in the business. After a 10-year career with Avery Label, he started McDowell Label & Screen Printing in 1981. Elaine and Dave have four sons and five grandchildren. (2004– 2016)

Art Yerecic (TLMI Past Chairman), President of Yerecic Label, New Kensington, PA, has served on the TLMI Board of Directors since 2004 and has been a TLMI member since 2001. He began his career at Yerecic Label in 1976, and became owner and president of the company in 1991. A lean manufacturing pioneer, Art has shared his understanding of lean processes with trade associations in the US and abroad. His company was honored by the U.S. Department of Defense with the 2010 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the highest recognition given by the U.S. Government for the support of employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve. Art and his wife, Sue, have seven children and live in Murrysville, PA. (2004 – 2014)

Jeff Dunphy (TLMI Vice Chairman), President of Design Label Manufacturing Inc., has served on the TLMI Board of Directors since 2004. He has worked in the tag and label industry since 1989, and his company has been a member of TLMI since 1979. He received a degree in Economics from Salve Regina University, and his MBA from the University of New Haven. (2004 – 2018)

Dan Muenzer, Vice-President Global Marketing at Spear, joined the TLMI board in 2011. He has been active in the packaging and label industry for 25 years including serving on the Board of Directors of the Glass Packaging Institute. Dan has been active with TLMI since 2008 and currently serves as the chair of the Recycling Solutions Committee. Dan and his wife Chris live in Cincinnati, OH and have three grown children. Kathy Alaimo, President, Syracuse Label & Surround Printing, an employee owned company in Liverpool. New York. Kathy has been employed with SLSP for 29 years working in multiple capacities and became President in 2007. The company has been active in TLMI since 2004. Currently she is a member of MACNY, NCEO and PIA. She and her husband Peter have two children and live in Kirkville, New York. (2010 – 2013)
Joel Carmany,President, Consolidated Label Company graduated from University of Dayton with a BS in Industrial Engineering. He worked for General Electric in various sales and marketing management positions for 15 years. In 1984 Joel bought Consolidated label in Longwood Fl and is currently CEO. (2010 – 2013)
Christopher Che, President/CEO of Hooven-Dayton Corporation, Miamisburg, Ohio, was elected to the TLMI Board of Directors in 2012. The company has been a member of TLMI since 1985 and is also a member of FTA. Christopher’s entry into the label industry began with his/the Che International Group’s acquisition of 77-year-old Hooven-Dayton Corp. (HDC) in 2007. Since that time, HDC has grown to two manufacturing facilities, totaling 136,000 sq. ft., with the acquisition of 35-year-old, Indiana-based Benchmark Graphics Inc. in 2011. Prior to 2007, Christopher held progressively senior executive financial management positions in the flexible and corrugated packaging, chemical manufacturing, accounting/auditing, and global IT/SCM/PMO solutions industries. Christopher earned a Master’s of Accountancy in 1986 from Miami University and a BA in Accounting and Computers in 1985 from Wilmington College. He and his wife Rose share three adult children and are active members of American and African community outreach efforts. (2012 – 2015)
Gary Cooper, Plant Manager of Staples Print Solutions, Information Systems Label Plant in Dallas, TX. Gary was elected to the TLMI Board of Directors in 2012, and has been an active member of TLMI since 2004. Gary entered the tag and label industry in 1992 after receiving a degree in Finance from the University of North Texas. After a 19 year career with Inovar Packaging Group, Gary joined Staples in 2011. Gary and his wife Colleen live in Arlington, TX and have two children, Tori and Truman that both attend Oklahoma State University. (2012 – 2015)
Alex Elezaj, COO, Whitlam Label Company was elected to the Board of Directors in 2012, and has been a member of the TLMI since 2008, the same year he entered the industry. Prior to joining Whitlam Label Company, Alex served in various sales, finance, and operational management positions at Takata Corporation, a worldwide leader of automotive safety and interior systems. Alex holds a BA degree from Walsh College, an MBA from Michigan State University, and has completed executive development at the Harvard Business School. Alex and his wife Gina have 4 children, and reside in Bruce Twp. Michigan. (2012 – 2015)
Michelle Garza, Vice President, RBCOR, LLC, a distributor of flexographic printing products located in San Marcos, California. Michelle has been employed with RBCOR for 22 years and responsible for operations, business development and marketing. She graduated from San Diego State with a BA in Public Administrations and Personnel Management. RBCOR has been a member of TLMI since 2005 and Michelle serves on the technical committee. Doug Kopp, Chairman Kopco Graphics, Inc. has been an active member of TLMI since 2003. He has served on the Environmental Committee from the beginning. Doug is a veteran of the flexo industry having started Universal Tape & Label with his father and uncle in 1969. That company merged with Superior Label Systems in 1982. KOPCO GRAPHICS was founded by Doug in 1989. Since that time it has grown to two manufacturing plants, headquarters in Fairfield (Cincinnati), OH., along with a facility in Bradenton, FL. KOPCO is a three time Eugene Singer Award winner. Doug is a member of the Naples Sailing and Yacht Club and is very active in his church where he is an ordained Stephen Minister. (2011 – 2014)

Craig Moreland, President of Coast Label Company, Fountain Valley, California. Coast Label joined TLMI in 2004, and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2010. Craig entered the label industry when he and his wife completed the acquisition of Coast Label in 1991. Prior to his entrepreneurial leap into the label converting industry, Craig held senior operating positions with a healthcare management company and a carbide cutting tool company. He graduated with a BA from the University of California, Irvine, and earned an MBA from the USC Marshall School of Business. Craig and his wife Janice live in Laguna Hills, California and have two adult children. He and his family enjoy downhill skiing and other outdoor activities; and Craig tries, with limited success, to manage his car habit. (2010 – 2013)

David Taylor is General Manager of EFI’s Radius (Enterprise Software for Packaging) division. Mr. Taylor joined Radius as President, led the buy-out in 2005 and directed the sale to EFI in July 2010. He is currently responsible for strategic direction and worldwide deployment of EFI Radius. With a Computer Science degree, Cranfield MBA and more than 20 years of experience in software development and deployment he is uniquely positioned to further EFI Radius’ lead position in the packaging market. Mr. Taylor is actively involved in many industry associations and regularly contributes his expertise in software development and deployment at events and within industry specific publications such as packagePRINTING, Labels and Labeling and Folding Carton Industry Magazine. Nick Van Alstine, President of Macaran Printed Products, Cohoes, New York. Nick is the president of Macaran and was elected to the TLMI board in October 2008 and served through 2011. He was reappointed to the Board in 2013. Nick and his Dad co-founded Macaran in 1974 as a division of their packaging wholesale company, Van Alstine & Son’s. He has been a member of TLMI since 2000 and serves on both the environmental and technical committees.
