TLMI Annual Label Awards Competition
The TLMI Annual Awards Competition aims to stimulate innovative printing and to recognize technical achievement in all areas of the narrow web industry, including tags and labels, cartons, flexible packaging, non-woven pressure-sensitives and more. The competition recognizes and honors the finest efforts of our converter members throughout the previous12-month period.

The Singer Award is given annually to four narrow web converting companies; each company within a certain sales range category. The 2010 TLMI Eugene Singer Awards were given to the following companies at the association’s recent Converter Meeting in Palm Beach, FL.
World Label Awards
In its 21st year, the winners of the World Label Awards Competition are chosen from a group comprised of first-place winners from association label competitions around the globe including TLMI, the Japanese Label Foundation (JFLP), FINAT, the Australian Label Association (LATMA) and Self Adhesive Label Manufacturers Association of New Zealand (SALMA). Label samples from companies are judged against each other in a variety of categories to determine and award the finest printed labels in the world.
Environmental Leadership Award
At the 2011 TLMI Annual Meeting, supplier member Avery Dennison and converter member Label World each received TLMI Environmental Leadership Awards. This prestigious award recognizes TLMI member companies that have consistently demonstrated a commitment to progressive environmental practices across a range of areas including solid waste reduction, recycling, waste or energy recovery, the implementation of new ‘clean’ technology and/or processes, and the implementation of an education program.
L.I.F.E.® Certification
In 2009, TLMI introduced its L.I.F.E. program to its converter and supplier members. L.I.F.E. (Label Initiative for the Environment) was developed by TLMI in order to assist the association’s members with finding cost effective ways to reduce their company’s environmental footprint.
Converter of the Year
At the TLMI Annual Meeting held in Scottsdale, Arizona, Ken Kidd, recently retired co-CEO of WS Packaging, Inc., was named TLMI Converter of the Year. Presented in conjunction with packagePrinting magazine on an annual basis, the Converter of the Year Award honors and recognizes a member of the converting industry who has made an extensive contribution to the North American narrow web marketplace and who has additionally demonstrated an unwavering commitment to TLMI.
Supplier of the Year
At the association’s Annual Meeting held in Scottsdale, Arizona; TLMI awarded Pat Hague, ink industry executive, Supplier of the Year.
Presented on an annual basis, the Supplier of the Year Award honors and recognizes an individual for their ongoing volunteer service and dedication to TLMI, and to the greater industry. Criteria for winning the award includes service to TLMI on the association’s board and committees, in addition to continuous commitment to the industry as a whole by helping to promote and foster its growth.
