What people are saying…
Vice President and General Manager
“TLMI has been a true partner in improving sustainability across the value chain. Through its L.I.F.E. certification, TLMI has created the industry standard for material suppliers and converters to help brands reduce the environmental and economic impact of labels and packaging. Avery Dennison is committed to working with TLMI and its members to broaden the reach and impact of L.I.F.E. certification, and we thank you for your leadership!”
“As we move forward with our self-audit next year and the follow up audit visit two years from now, I anticipate that it will be very easy to maintain this certification. Waste and energy reduction, eco-friendly purchasing, and employee engagement have all been improved as a result of Project L.I.F.E. It isn’t an easy process, but I would recommend that all converters strongly consider the Project L.I.F.E. certification process.”
“TLMI is built around members helping each other to advance the industry as well as to be more successful individually. When Coast Label Company decided to prepare for our L.I.F.E. Certification we found other TLMI members ready, willing and able to assist us, and this made the process very straightforward for our L.I.F.E. Team. Because of our good experience, we have decided to “pay it forward” by participating in the L.I.F.E. Mentor Program to advise other companies pursuing L.I.F.E. Certifications for their plants.”
“Hub Labels’ environmental management program (EMP) was created by its employees from various departments of our plant. Our group was able obtain certification with no environmental background or consultation. Each individual took the initiative to educate themselves on what environmental knowledge and tools were needed to become Project L.I.F.E. certified, which included networking, a great deal of research and definitely using our resources. Our culture thrives on the mantra of continuous improvement and with that being said, we understood that Project L.I.F.E. was a journey and not a destination. Even if you do not have all the practices in place, it’s a good exercise on being a responsible corporate neighbor and doing what’s right for the environment.”
“More and more of our customers are being asked, or mandated, to evaluate the sustainability of their packaging. Having the third-party L.I.F.E. certification shows our customers that we operate in an environmentally sound manner and can provide documentation to meet their chain-of-custody requirements. We have implemented several processes and procedures to reduce waste and energy consumption throughout all our locations. We are currently pursuing L.I.F.E. certification at several other plants.”
“Ritrama is proud to have earned the TLMI L.I.F.E. certification. We have realized environmental, operational, and financial benefits by working through the certification process. As we move forward with this continuous environmental improvement program, we continue to find new ways to improve both our business and the environment.”
“Channeled Resources was L.I.F.E. certified in 2009. We have now completed two outside audits and two self-audits. The process for both has brought continuous focus on reduction of waste, water, and energy. This has not only brought cost savings but created an awareness by team members as to the importance of environmental change, not only to our company but to the community at large. The L.I.F.E. environmental management system has truly impacted our culture at Channeled Resources.”
“The TLMI L.I.F.E. certification program has helped Smyth to focus on areas within our business that with continuous improvement efforts, we are starting to see considerable environmental benefits. Through the L.I.F.E. Scorecard we have established benchmarks to measure the improvements that these projects are yielding.
The program also helps us in demonstrating to our customers, that we are representing their best interest in working with a supplier that supports their environmental initiatives.”
Jason Pearson, President and CEO of GreenBlue, a nonprofit sustainability institute whose projects include the renowned and respected Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC) recently made the following comment about the L.I.F.E. Certification Program.
“I am very impressed with the intelligent and balanced approach which TLMI has developed. This program provides a flexible, robust framework for encouraging continuous improvement.”
